Roman is a city of Neamt County, Moldova, Romania. It is located in the central plateau Moldavia, Neamt County, at the confluence of the rivers Siret and Moldova. Episcopal Cathedral of the Roman

With no clear documents showing precisely date the founding of this house of worship, historians consider that this statute was probably founded in the period 1408 - 1413, during the reign of Alexander the Good, who is considered the organizer of Moldovan church hierarchy. Subsequent work lasted for 8 years, ending in 1550 by Petru Rares care of his wife, Mrs. Elena Ilie and his sons, Stephen and Constantine, as shown in the text originating inscription, the eldest son's name (Ilie) was subsequently removed following its transition to Islam.
